What would you do if your tire blew out on the freeway?

Once again on my drive down to Portland for class I had a tire blow out on me. As my sister so kindly pointed out, every tire that has blown out while I am driving occurs during my drive to Portland (except of course the one in Argentina which took place when I was going about 5 mph). Let me tell you it is a bit scary to be driving 60-70 mph and have the tire shred on you while driving in the left lane. It has now happened to me three times, two which have been in the past couple months.

I could focus on all of the negative aspects; the price of paying for two new tires (well four in the past couple months), the fear of having the car jerk on me, the stress that it caused me and neck pain I felt, having to drive less than 50 mph on the freeway, having to find a Les Schwab and go out of the way to get to it, being late to class and missing my advising appointment, and the list goes on.

But instead I choose to focus on the positive aspects; God protected me and I did not get into an accident (either time), I was able to pull over to the side of the road quickly and safely, God held off the rain as I changed the tire, just the fact that my father taught me how to change a tire years ago, the tire was on the passenger side so I didn’t have to worry about getting hit by a car as I put on the spare, God kept me safe as I changed the tire, I only got to class 15 minutes late, I was able to reschedule my advising appointment, Les Schwab was super fast at changing my tire and they had internet while I waited, I now have four brand new tires and don’t have to worry about blowouts along the way, did I mention that God kept me safe?

Some other blessings from the past couple days that I can focus on; an amazing service at Church on Sunday, Thursday morning Bible study at church started back up, fellowship and worship with some awesome women, class got out early last night and I was home by midnight, an awesome time of worship on the drive home, a basically kid free day at work (which is interesting since my job is to take care of children), I turned in my final paper and last homework assignments for the Gospels course, I sent out my support letters and am trusting in God to provide the funds, I had two weeks of vacation from homework, over all… life is good..!

So glad you are safe! Thanks for the encouraging reminder that life is good... even when some parts may not be. :-)
